Danville-Alamo AAUW Branch Goals 2004-2005
Maximize retention of existing members (maintain at 95%) and recruit
12-15 new members.
Raise at least $5,000 for the Educational Foundation.
Raise funds for the Legal Advocacy Fund and increase awareness of its
purpose and achievements.
Raise funds to send a minimum of 2 attendees to Tech Trek (at $650
each).
Raise funds for branch local scholarships.
Increase branch visibility in the community.
Encourage women’s participation in public policy making.
Provide two general programs without charge to members and ensure that
interest groups reflect member input.
Five Year Goals and Objectives 2000-2005
Promote equity for women and girls.
Strengthen awareness of career and educational choices of school-age
girls.
Educate our members and the public about the AAUW Reports: "How
Schools Shortchange Girls", "Hostile Hallways", "Girls in
the Middle", and others.
Advocate gender equity in non-AAUW organizations to which we belong.
Improve the quality of education and life in our community.
Support measures that affect local schools and libraries.
Support and promote the Education Foundation and the Legal Advocacy
Fund.
Support the Math/Science Conference.
Recognize achieving girls by awarding local scholarships.
Recognize re-entry women with awards.
Develop programs to support AAUW's national and state public policy action
priorities.
Educate and lobby for AAUW's position on issues such as reproductive
choice, welfare reform, vocational training, social security, family leave,
women's health issues, etc.
Promote public awareness of AAUW and influence community responses toward the
AAUW mission and goals.
Encourage members to actively participate in the public policy making
process of our community, state and nation.
Educate the community about the goals and accomplishments of AAUW.
Endorse non-partisan candidates who support AAUW's goals.
Increase member interest in and commitment to AAUW
Involve the interest sections in developing programs and projects for
the branch.
Communicate goals, objectives and accomplishments of AAUW to the
branch members in The Advocate and other media.
Survey members annually.
Offer opportunities for branch member self-development.
Provide educational seminars that teach as well as inspire
intellectual growth and societal awareness including programs with other groups.
Encourage leadership skills among branch members through training,
board positions, section group organization, and program development.
Meet members' social needs with functions that promote friendship.
Increase diversity in our membership and in our community work.
Work with other organizations to achieve AAUW goals.
